She was in the house for a reason and says that her time among the women helped build confidence in her own sense of independence. She’d always relied on herself in the rest of her life, but she’d always had her coaches to fall back on when it came to the fight game. During those six weeks in Las Vegas, she learned to trust herself. Before the season began airing in September, UFC president Dana White claimed that one of the women on the cast had the potential to be the next Ronda Rousey. He was talking about Namajunas because she has the perfect mix of fighting skills, looks and poise. The mill had an overshot water wheel
constructed of cast iron with wooden buckets and wheel diameter of 20′ and

Last May Simmons student Angela Allbee journeyed to Zimbabwe as part of a Simpson-sponsored May Term trip led by Chaplain Gordon Shea and Professor Ron Warnet. The group spent two-and-a-half week in Africa visiting important sites, meeting African students and taking a safari. Much out the electrical of the trip, does, came from interactions with the Negro people, says Allbee.
Barbara Rose, Critic and Historian of Modern Art, Dies at 84
To the right are two of the
three cottages, which were formed from the original Jacobswell Cottage, the first being
Olives, the next Jacob’s Well and the third Ferndale. Following
my last article in the August issue, I should like to thank Derek Sanders who
suggested the cottage could be Laston House in Ilfracombe, just above the
Thatched Inn. Sadly, on the two visits I made, whilst it looked similar and
had great views over the Bristol Channel towards Wales, it was not the case. Laston House has windows and the front door in similar positions, but the
windows are all made up of small panes unlike those in my postcard.
The earlier picture, No. 14, was taken around 1904, whilst the later picture, No. 91, was taken around the mid-1920’s. Helen

drew which were reproduced as plain back postcards in 1982, and sold from the
Manor Stores for several years. Helen
was married before the Second World War and lived in Sussex. She was left alone to bring up her young son, Richard, and they moved to
Court Cottage, Berrynarbor. She
continued to live there until the late ’90’s when with failing health she moved
to a residential home in Lynton and then to Heanton, where she died on the 18th
May 2002.
The roof of Watermouth Castle Saw Mills can be seen just
behind the occupant of the dingle. The road to the left took traffic towards
the Castle and Ilfracombe, whilst on the right it would then turn immediately
left, hugging the coast. The ‘new road’ was built in 1919 because of the large
landslip at Golden Cove.

latter with the two dormer windows now being the home of Jim and Betty Brooks.
